Art Lessons

Beginner-Intermediate: I will work one-on-one with you to develop a lesson program and identify areas to practice to meet your art goals. Your lesson will take place in a private studio room with access to easels, art supplies, and bluetooth enabled speakers (if you enjoy working to music). I can also help you learn how to isolate your right-brain, left-brain focus in order to better your artistic "eye" and concentration. My teaching style and artistic approach is all about learning to challenge yourself and learning from mistakes. I believe only in positive encouragement when it comes to training your creative mind. Instruction is available for oil paints, acrylics, pastels, graphite, charcoal, watercolor, and basic sculpture. Critique and guidance offered for other mediums, but in those cases you will be expected to bring all supplies. I am happy to teach from still-life and/or photographs/references.
Training & Qualifications
I have been taught in visual and fine arts for as long as I can remember. I have exhibited art in two museums and a couple galleries, earning several awards, and I trained for two summers at the Atelier Studio in Minneapolis under the accomplished equine oil-painter Lynn Maderich. My work has been featured internationally in Brazil and one piece is displayed at a Costa Rica animal sanctuary. My strengths of subject lay in animals and horses, in particular. My favorite personal mediums are oils and charcoal.
