Suman (Sticky Rice) Recipe
After I got out of the Navy, I was finally able to go back to my home island in the Philippines called Mindanao. You see because my island was or is considered "dangerous" I could not visit unless had family there. At the time I had no biological family and so while in Active Duty I was not allowed to see my Island. That all changed when I got out of the Navy in 2013 and by late 2014 I arrived in Mindanao to visit my orphanage, BCHC (Bethany Christian Home for Children). Where I re-discovered a very famous dessert one day while out in the market of Talakag. A woman was selling these on the street... I bought one and ate it. They were so good, I asked her how much for the entire thing. I think at first she didn't understand what I said but boy was she happy once she realized I meant her entire batch for that day!
And so without further ado, I share this recipe to my simbi family. It turns out it takes a little while to cook as it is steamed. I provide you this recipe for only 1 simbi just so you can enjoy it as I did!
Maybe you wanted to try something new or maybe your part Filipino and have lost touch of that Filipino in you... whatever your reason, this recipe is definitely one to try. So what are you waiting for, send me a message and ask for this Recipe!
